Mercedes India announced the launch of the EQC last year - the flagship all-electric SUV from Mercedes. Previously, the launch was scheduled to happen in April 2020. But then it was delayed and nationwide lockdown delayed it even further. Finally, as things have started fixing down, Mercedes-Benz, at the launch of the big GLS, has confirmed that we will see the Mercedes-Benz EQC on Indian roads in the coming weeks.
Mercedes-Benz EQC is the first all-electric offering from the German marque's EQ division. In future, we will also see EQA, EQB, EQS (S-class) and other all-electric cars. The EQC 400 will be the first premium mid-size all-electric SUV and won't have any direct rivals. Globally, it takes on the likes of the Audi E-Tron and Jaguar I-pace; both were scheduled to get launched in India but no legit timeline has been shared till now.

Talking about the EQC 400, it is powered by an 80 kWh battery pack that is stored under the floor. The motor is capable of belting out a peak power output of over 400 horses along with a max torque of 760 Nm. It touches the 100 km/h mark in just 5.1 seconds thanks to its rather interesting electric AWD layout. Keep the pedal pinned to the floor and it will touch 180 km/h effortlessly. But we are sure it can go further to the limited top speed.
You will obviously need to charge the EQC after some exhilarating quarter-mile runs and here the fast charging comes handy. The EQC 400 can be juiced up from 0-80% in just 40 minutes. If you are not so lucky to find a fast charger, the regular wall socket will take near 11 hours for a full charge. The charging time is quite respectable when you come to know that once it is fully juiced up, it can do up to 450 km flat out.

The EQC is also like every other Mercedes - tech-laden and super luxurious. The EQC sports two big screens in the middle of the dashboard - one for the driver and one which sports your 3D navigation, Android Auto, Apple Car Play and all the other features. You will see a lot of blue inserts, both on the exteriors and in the interiors, just to make you release that you have spend over a crore on an electric SUV.
Mercedes-Benz will launch the EQC 400 in India in the coming weeks and it will be priced over a crore. Just to put it in perspective, the recently launched GLS is priced at Rs 99.9 lakhs ex-showroom despite being the most lavish SUV from the tri-star carmaker.
