In India, MG Motor plans to launch the MG Air electric, their most affordable EV. The launch will happen in the first half of 2023, as stated by the brand. The newest rumors claim that the debut will happen on January 5 and be displayed at the next Auto Expo 2023. Even though MG hasn't disclosed any information on the launch date, the company did share an invitation to "Block Your Date," which is rumoured to be for the upcoming EV launch.

MG Air EV
The MG Air EV would be the smallest EV 4-wheeler for sale in India. The Wuling Air EV will be rebadged as the MG Air EV and offered in Indian market. The SAIC Group, of which Wuling and MG are both a part, permits the sharing of models between sister brands. MG will assemble the Air EV in its Gujarat plant in order to keep the price of the vehicle reasonable.
The Air EV will feature a boxy outside design language with a compact and stylish interior. The Wuling Air EV is available as a two-door, four-seater vehicle in other markets. The MG version of Air EV will maintain the same.
In terms of battery information, the short-range variant comes with a 30 kW engine and a 17.3 kWh battery pack. This battery pack can deliver a range of up to 200 km and charges in 8.5 hours using a 2 kW AC charger. On the other hand, the long-range variant includes a 26.7 kWh battery pack. This battery pack's long-range variation has a range of up to 300 km and can be fully charged in 4 hours using a 6.6 kW AC outlet. The 40 bhp/110 Nm motor is identical for both the basic and long range variants.

The Air EV won't differ from the other feature-rich vehicles that MG is renowned for providing in any way. Digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment display. There will also be dual airbags, ABS, a start/stop system, an electric park brake, hill-hold, and drive modes. The Air EV will additionally offer connectivity options for remote operations and diagnosis. There will also be a rotary knob for the drive mode selector.
Verdict
The MG Air electric will attract lots of attention and could establish a benchmark for electric four-wheelers. At the moment, the most affordable EV in India starts at Rs 8.49 lakh. The Air EV will become the most affordable EV in India if MG keeps the pricing below that.
