MG Motor India has shown interest in Ford Indias assets. On hearing the news of its exit from manufacturing in India, MG has reportedly tried connecting with the American automaker. MG is interested in taking over both the manufacturing units in Sanand and Maraimalai Nagar factories. MG in a statement said that the talks are in a very early stage, therefore, Rajeev Chaba refused to comment further.

MG at the time of the pandemic looked at Fords facility for contractual manufacturing. It had an impact on sales which states that the plan to expand its capacity had been turned down. Ford still has few vehicles left in stock for which buyers are in a hope of huge discounts to be offered.
Ford is not only connected with MG but is also in talks with several automotive industries including the electric two-wheeler maker, Ola and Mahindra & Mahindra as well.
The Government of Tamil Nadu is in full support for the process. It is ready to permit all the approvals and attract all the fiscal benefits incurred from the assets.
Ford is about to make its exit from India very soon. Its Sanand Facility is about to shut down in the third quarter of this fiscal year. On the other hand, the Maraimalai Nagar will vanish by the first quarter of the upcoming fiscal year.
Ford has already stopped its sales in India and is only working on the leftover production of the orders abroad. Ford has started offering heavy discounts on the remaining vehicles in stock. Its existing running models were Figo, Aspire, Freestyle, Ecosport, and Endeavour. However, it has also been said that Ford will not end its operations in India completely.

It will still continue to provide spare parts, services and warranties to its existing customers. The automotive giants said in a statement that they will now focus more on introducing premium and iconic cars to India as well.
There are few expected cars from Ford to be launched in India are - Ranger Raptor, Mustang Mach-E, Mustang and more. And these models will land up in India via the CBU units for which consumers would be charged a much higher premium than before.
