MG Gloster Off-road Prowess Revealed in Official Video - Details [Video]

Morris Garages entered the Indian market in the year 2019 with the Hector SUV. The Hector was an instant hit owing to multiple reasons. Then, so far in 2020, the company has launched the ZS EV, Hector Plus and now MG is all set to introduce its flagship SUV - MG Gloster. The MG Gloster full-size SUV was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. Now, the carmaker is planning to launch it around the festive season of this year. Ahead of its launch, MG is releasing its pre-launch teasers and in the latest official video, the off-road prowess of the MG Gloster has been showcased. Let's have a look at it.

The MG Gloster is a behemoth. It has sheer dimensions and thus will have a great road presence on the Indian roads. In the above-embedded video, one can see that the Gloster is doing some serious off-roading. The full-size SUV has been driven on various terrains including grass fields, over sand and on the rocky terrains. We can see the Gloster climbing up-hill and then coming down-hill like a Pro! Moreover, water wading capabilities have also been showcased in the video. The MG Gloster gets an on-demand 4-wheel drive system which MG likes to call as an Intelligent 4-wheel drive system.

Further, aiding the off-road capabilities are four different terrain modes - Rock, Sand, Mud and Snow. These modes can be changed or selected via a rotary knob. This video highlights the off-road prowess of the upcoming MG Gloster and it gives us a clear idea of how capable this flagship MG SUV is! Also, the Gloster looks muscular and rough & tough from the outside but on the inside, it will have a very plush interior, loaded with features up to the brim. This flagship MG SUV will also get ADAS or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and it will have level-1 autonomous driving capabilities with features like automatic park assist, adaptive cruise control, etc.

The upcoming MG Gloster SUV will be powered by a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine. This oil-burner will churn out around 218 PS of maximum power and 480 Nm of torque. The engine will come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Gloster might also get a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Talking about the launch timeline and price, so the Gloster will be launched around Diwali this year. However, the Tech Unveil of the MG Gloster will take place tomorrow, i.e. on September 24, 2020.
