MG Gloster Garners 2000 Bookings - Sold Out for 2020!

MG Motor India started well in the Indian market. The Hector saw great success in the beginning and MG has now recorded best sales till date which stood at 3625 units for October 2020. MG also launched the Gloster last month and MG has got great response for the Gloster. MG has garnered over 2000 bookings for the Gloster and as per the announcement, the Gloster is sold out for the year 2020.

MG Motor India has analysed the Indian market well, that is clearly visible by the fact that all their offerings are in form of mid-size and full-size premium SUVs. The sales milestone MG has touched is impressive given all the SUVs targeted to the premium set of buyers. The Gloster impressed all of us with its tech savagery and road presence.

MG researched the Indian market well and priced the Gloster very attractively. MG launched the Gloster in four trims - Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy. As the name suggests, the Savvy trim came with all the ADAS features and if one doesn't want the overkill set of features, the Sharp trim is attractively priced without ADAS tech.

The new MG Gloster is powered by two BS6-compliant diesel engines. One is a 2.0-litre single-turbo diesel engine while the other is a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel motor. The lower-spec Super and Smart variants get the former that develops 163 PS of power at 4000 RPM and 375 Nm of peak torque between 1500-2400 RPM. On the other hand, the top-spec Sharp and Savvy variants get the latter that churns out a massive 218 PS of power at 4000 RPM and 480 Nm of peak torque between 1500-2400 RPM. The tranny coupled with both the engines is a ZF-sourced 8-speed auto. However, only the twin-turbo engine is offered with 4WD whereas the single-turbo is 2WD only.

By pricing the Gloster right in line with the competition, MG has tried to take a dig on the competition. MG sells the Gloster via the CKD route and the brand commits to keep the cost lower by more localisation. The Gloster is sold out for the year 2020 and the prices will be changed. MG launched the Gloster at the introductory prices for early 2000 bookers. As the milestone is achieved, MG will hike the prices soon once the newly-produced cars come to the dealerships.
