With the lockdown in process, several cars launches have been delayed and those which have launched see late deliveries. In amidst of this pandemic, MG Motor India has brought in the BS6 diesel of their debutant Hector and the prices for the same see an increase of Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000.

The prices of MG Hector BS6 diesel starts at Rs 13.88 lakh while the top-spec fetches till Rs 17.73 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. Interestingly, the base trim of the diesel Hector gets expensive by Rs 19,000 when compared with Tata Harrier. Please note, MG has already launched the BS6 version of Hector in petrol disguise.

When we compare MG Hector with the Tata Harrier, the latter not only offers varied trims but an automatic gearbox too which the Hector lacks. The starting price of Harrier is Rs 13.69 lakh and the top model fetches till Rs 20.25 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Coming to the BS6 MG Hector then it uses the same 2.0-litre, FCA sourced turbocharged diesel engine which makes 170 bhp on tap. It generates peak torque of 350 Nm from as low as 1,750 rpm. Transmission sticks to a 6-speed manual gearbox and no automatic is on offer. The petrol engine comes with a DCT gearbox.

In other news, MG showcased a six-seater version of Hector which is named as Hector Plus. This is based on the 5-seater Hector only but comes with an extra last seat row to accomodate more passengers. The middle row comes in captain seat while the last row of seats sticking to bench type. The prices for the same will see a significant increase from the normal 5-seater version.
