MG To Showcase Civic Rival Coupe Sedan At The 2020 Auto Expo

MG Motors is high on gasoline and has taken some bold steps in India. If we talk about the first vehicle, it was Hector SUV that went on to create benchmarks in the segment. Despite being a new manufacturer in India, MG Motor launched its full-electric SUV which is truly commendable. Now, reports suggest that MG is readying a coup-ish sedan for the Indian market to take on the Honda Civic, Skoda Octavia and Hyundai Elantra.

The sedan we are talking about is the Baojun RC6 and MG will bring the same with some Indian specific changes. It will be sporty looking and seems to be inspired by the E-motion concept. MG Motor will showcase this car at the 2020 Auto Expo with a slew of their other future products and global pieces of future mobility. Baojun RC6 is already on sale in China and it measures 4925 x 1880 x 1580 in LBH.

The wheelbase of the RC6 is 2800 mm and we expect MG to increase the ground clearance for the Indian spec model. Powering the RC6 is the same 1.5-litre turbocharged engine which we get in the Hector. It churns out 145 hp and 250 Nm of torque and it comes mated with both 6-speed manual and 7-step DCT.

We also expect MG to chuck in a diesel engine from the Hector which is FCA sourced 2.0-litre Multijet 2 diesel engine producing 170 ps and 350 Nm of torque. Taking about the design, it will sport clean and curvy lines all across its body panels, a large chrome grille will take the centre of the front with LED headlights. The tapering roofline will give it a coupe stance and the boot will open like a hatchback instead as of a normal sedan.

The interiors will grab your eyeballs at a glance with the dual large screens inspired from the latest Mercedes range. Both the screens measure 12.3 inches in size while the infotainment screen is a touchscreen. It will also carry a host of electronics and safety aids and we look forward to its unveiling at the 2020 Auto Expo and it is just a couple of days away.
