BMW India has commenced the pre-bookings for the upcoming BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase (LWB) in India. The luxury sedan will officially launch in India on July 24, 2024. The BMW 5 Series will be locally manufactured at BMW's Chennai facility. Notably, India is the first market to witness the launch of the Right-hand drive BMW Series in the LWB version. 2024 BMW 5 Series LWB: Design Details

The new generation BMW 5 Series LWB gets the same design as the standard wheelbase guise available in India. The SUV features an aggressive kidney grille, new adaptive LED headlights, slim wraparound LED taillights and refreshed bumpers with bigger air intakes. The new BMW 5 Series also derives some of its design cues from the BMW 7 Series which gives it a more premium look. Apart from this, the new BMW 5 Series LWB comes gets 18-inch alloy wheels.

The new BMW 5 Series LWB has a more spacious interior than the standard wheelbase available in India. The new Gen 5 series interior looks the same as the latest 7 series as it offers more legroom. However, there is a new thickly padded rear seat that lacks reclining features which is available in its straight rival, Mercedes E-Class.

The new gen BMW 5 Series has a curved display that houses a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The display on offer runs on the iDrive 8.5 operating system. The new Gen 5 series gets features such as a 655-watt 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, two infotainment screens for the rear passengers, wireless charging and more. Additionally, there are features like the ADAS suite, a Quick select function for one-touch access to features and an optional dashboard integrated interaction bar.

The latest BMW 5 Series LWB guise is 5175 mm in length, 1900mm in width and 1520 mm in height. The new 5's wheelbase measures 3105 mm in length which is an increase of 110 mm from the standard wheelbase. If compared with the outgoing model, the new BMW 5 Series is 212 mm longer, 32 mm wider and 41 mm higher. The upcoming Mercedes E-Class is slightly smaller in dimension than the new BMW 5 Series.

BMW 5 Series LWB Engine Options

The all-new BMW 5 Series LWB will be available with both diesel and petrol units. There are no official details available regarding the powertain, but we can expect a 2.0-litre petrol and diesel unit to be paired with 48-volt mild hybrid technology.
