As per the recent reports which surfaced online, Kia Motors is all set to launch a number of new products in the next couple of years which also include a new Kia MPV which is expected to take on the rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Currently, the brand sells three vehicles in the Indian market which include the newly launched Sonet, Seltos, and the Carnival. Once launched, the new Kia MPV is expected to be placed between the Ertiga and the Innova Crysta to fill the gap in the market.
Furthermore, it is believed that the new Kia MPV will share its underpinnings with the Kia Seltos and will be bigger than the Ertiga, The car will be significantly longer than the Seltos to make way for the third row, making it a spacious 7-seater vehicle. As per what we know so far, the Korean carmaker is aiming to launch only SUVs and the MPVs in the Indian market for the initial few years of its debut. For those wondering, the new MPV is expected to be launched in the first half of 2022.

As far as the design of this new vehicle is concerned, we are expecting this new MPV to have a similar design language as seen on its other siblings. The vehicle is expected to have a tiger-nose grille as seen on other vehicles from the brand. On the exteriors, this new MPV from Kia may also have LED DRLs, dual-tone alloy wheels, projector headlamps, etc to make it significantly more premium when compared to its rivals.
With this being said, we believe that this vehicle will share its powertrain options with the Seltos and thus will be offered with two engine options - 1.5-L petrol and 1.5-L diesel engine. While the performance-oriented 1.4-L turbo is unlikely to make its way to the MPV, we do think that both the 1.5-L engine will be offered with automatic transmissions as an option for the buyers.
