If there's one new carmaker that has been giving us bonkers with the everyday launches then it has to be the MG. Yes, with the Hector, ZS EV, Hector Plus, Gloster, Hector Facelift, the carmaker has surely made a mark that it is here to stay. Interestingly, MG has now brought in the news that they will be launching Astor which has been named as Astor and is based on ZS EV which targets the buyers of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and will only come in petrol engine when it sees its launch this year.

In a recent interview, Rajeev Chaba, President and MD of MG Motor India revealed that they are planning on the launch of an SUV that will sit below the MG Hector. That said, the prices of Hector starts from Rs 12.90 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 18.62 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.

From this, we can only imagine that the upcoming Astor from MG will be priced relatively lower and the expected price starts from Rs 9.89 lakh and the top model fetching till Rs 14.99 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. If that is the case then we are sure that it will attract a lot of buyers.
Commenting on the powertrain of the upcoming MG Astor then only two engine options will be seen - a 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated petrol motor and a more powerful 1.3L turbo petrol unit. The former is tuned to make 120 PS with a peak torque of 150 Nm while the turbocharged motor will make 163 PS with 230 Nm of peak torque. With these figures, the MG Astor becomes the most powerful unit in its segment.

Design-wise, Astor will be based on the facelifted version of the ZS EV. Currently, the Indian market gets the pre-lift version of the electric SUV. Expect an updated front design with sharper headlights and sleek bumper and grille design. The side profile more or less stays the same and on the rear, you will see revised LED taillights and new model name.
Feature-wise, expect a larger panoramic sunroof, front and rear parking sensors, 10.1-inch infotainment unit with the wireless connectivity of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You will also get connected car tech along with an air purifier, rear AC vents and others.
