TVS Motor Company is one of the largest and most reputed two-wheeler manufacturers in the world. This Madras-based home-grown automaker has gained immense popularity in recent years due to its well-rounded products in every segment. TVS Motorcycles collaborated with the German giant BMW Motorrad in 2013 and has been making motorcycles with them since 2018. The Apache RR 310 and BMW G310 twins were the first set of motorcycles under this alliance and now TVS is planning to soon launch a new bike under the concordat. So, is this the upcoming 2021 TVS Apache RTR 310?

First of all, let us give you a quick gist of the TVS-BMW partnership. This Indo-German alliance was formed back in 2013 with the main objective to attract the mid-capacity bike buyers, sub-500cc to be precise, and the coalition nailed in doing it. The BMW G310 R, G310 GS and the Apache RR 310 were the initiation products to be developed under this alliance. The design and development of the bikes were majorly done by BMW, but the production facility took place at TVS Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu.
However, it has been more than three years of the Apache RR 310 launch and the Apache Fanboys have been in anticipation for a new motorcycle since a long time and here comes the good news. K.N. Radhakrishnan, TVS Motor Company's President and CEO, has confirmed at one of the companys earnings conference that a second TVS-BMW product will be launched in 2021 and it will be based on the same platform.
Also, while speaking about the updated fully-faired BS6-compliant TVS Apache RR 310, he said that TVS will launch another variant of the same motorcycle possibly next year clearly hinting us that it will be a naked version of the RR 310. It is known to all that all TVS Apache naked motorcycles come with an RTR moniker and thus the new upcoming motorcycle will be most likely known as the TVS Apache RTR 310.
The upcoming RTR 310 will borrow cycle parts, platform, powertrain and features from its faired sibling. It means that the RTR 310 will be powered by a BS6-compliant 312cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 34 PS of power and 28 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. TVS might also re-tune the engine of the motorcycle to suit the character of an aggressive naked streetfighter.
The RR 310 will pack in good hardware too. It might feature an assist & slipper clutch and ride-by-wire throttle technology with four different riding modes - Urban, Rain, Sport, and Track as we saw on the updated RR 310. The motorcycle will also feature more relaxed ergonomics with sharp handling and will be likely shod-in new Michelin Road 5 rubbers. We expect TVS to also equip it with a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity too.
Talking about the launch timeline, the all-new TVS Apache RTR 310 will go on sale in India only in 2021 and we expect the motorcycle to be priced around Rs. 2.10 lakhs, Ex-showroom. This naked streetfighter will give tough competition to other naked motorcycles like the KTM Duke 390, Honda CB 300R, Benelli TNT 300, and its own cousin BMW G310 R.
