This sedan has been selling in India since 2016 and competes with the BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, and Mercedes Benz E-Class. Volvo S90 Facelift

Volvo S90 facelift despite being an mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid cars, looks so electric, and that's reflect company's ongoing transition towards full electrification. The front end is same as what we saw with the newly launched XC90 - featuring slimmer LED lights with "Thor Hammer Shape" DRLs. Also, the grille is all new, which honestly, look stupendous. From side profile nothing has changed. Also, the rear profile features the same set of Thor hammer shape tail-light design, and the bumper design has been tweaked, which appears quite sober. Two new metallic colours offered for the first time: Aurora Silver and Mulberry Red. Lastly, new diamond cut alloy wheels completes the overall look.

Interior

The overall design is the same as before, featuring a new 11.2-inch standing infotainment screen that replaces the previous 9-inch display. Apart from this, the sound insulation has been improved, but everything from the steering wheel to the features remains unchanged. So, you still get multi-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, leatherette seats, and a premium sound system by Bowers & Wilkins.

Powertrain
Volvo S90 will get two set of powertrain setup - a mild hybrid and a plug-in-hybrid. The offical press release mentions that the P-HEV version on battery alone can keep this car in motion for up to 80 km. The S90 is also available in a mild hybrid version, featuring a four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with front wheel drive, which offers 250 hp and 350 Nm of torque. Moreover, no more details about it were shared by the Volvo.
Lastly, this car will first launch in China, followed by other markets, and we expect it to arrive in India by the end of 2025. Also, there are several chances that it may not launch here with the PHEV option, as even the XC90 facelift doesn't offer it. But we're keeping our fingers crossed - they just might surprise us.

Verdict
The Volvo S90 is an underrated car and doesn't sell even half as much as its rivals. Also, for years it hasn't received any updates, and the same shape - though timeless - is not attracting younger buyers. So, a facelift has become imperative for this car, in order for Volvo to gain more traction in the country. Will it be able to change the game for this Scandinavian company this time? Only time will tell.
