The Pole-To-Pole Challenge
The journey began in February with the Nissan Ariya. The team navigated the EV through diverse terrains and climates across North, Central, and South America. Subsequently, they traveled through the most secluded continent on Earth to ultimately reach the South Pole. This achievement marks the first instance of any car, let alone an EV, accomplishing such an expedition.
In 2017, Chris and Julie initiated the planning of Pole to Pole following their completion of the Mongol Rally in a Nissan LEAF. This marked the first use of an EV in conquering the 10,000-kilometer challenge.
The Nissan Ariya EV used for the drive was only modified with the 39-inch BF Goodrich tires. The Nissan Ariya with e-4ORCE all-wheel control, has passed the toughest tests at extreme temperatures and high altitudes. The vehicle was factory-standard with no modifications to the powertrain or battery. As for battery specification, the Ariya comes with two battery pack options: a 63 kWh battery and an 87 kWh battery pack. It offers multiple motor options and comes with an AWD setup as well.
