Nissan Magnite is the now the torchbearer for Nissan India and it will decide the fate of the carmaker in India. It is obvious that Nissan would not like to take any chance on the success of the new compact SUV. The COVID-19 and national lockdown have affected the automotive industry to the core and all the manufacturing facilities were shut. As the manufacturing facility of Nissan and Renault was also shut, the whole production schedule has been affected due to the lockdown. Now Nissan has delayed the launch of the Magnite to January 2021.
Earlier, Nissan Magnite was scheduled to get launched in August but due to the implementation of national lockdown, the production plan got delayed. Now as Renault also has the Kiger SUV in the pipeline, which is expected to get launched this festive season, Renault didn't find it wise to sacrifice the festival season launch timeline which can do wonders for Renault in the sluggish market. To support that, Nissan has now delayed the Magnite launch to January 2021.

The Magnite can be called as the last resort for Nissan India and it can change the future of Nissan India. The Magnite is expected to be priced from Rs 5.25 lakhs ex-showroom and its top variants will also boast some first-in-segment features.
The base variants will get the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 72 PS and 96 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed manual and AMT. The other engine will be 1.0-litre turbo petrol with 100 PS and 160 Nm of torque paired with 6-speed manual gearbox. Nissan is also expected to offer an option of CVT with the turbo petrol. Nissan Magnite will share its underpinnings and powertrains with the Kiger but will largely distinct in looks.
