The Nissan X-Trail is a name that needs no introduction. Launched in the country in the year 2004, the Nissan X-Trail was one of the first full-size SUVs to be sold here in the Indian market. Big and powerful engine, a comfortable and a feature-rich cabin, and an imposing stance, the X-Trail had it all. This SUV was first brought into the Indian market via the CBU route and received a major facelift in the year 2010. In this sequel of our Walking Down The Memory Lane, we have the brochure images of the 2004 X-Tail. Before we start, I would like to thank Sid for sharing these images with us.
The Nissan X-Trail had huge dimensions which not only gave it a massive road presence but also resulted in a spacious cabin. The car had a very boxy and masculine design which gave it a distinctive and bold look. The large wheels and the flared wheel arches, in addition to the upright stance, gave the X-Trail a proper SUV look which was largely appreciated by the Indian buyers.

With a seating capacity of 5 people, the X-Trail had enough space in the cabin while the boot space was big enough to store large amounts of luggage. The seats, both at the front and at the rear very extremely supportive and comfortable with adequate under-thigh and lumbar support. To further enhance the comfort levels, the rear seat could be reclined as per the passengers' requirements. Overall, the cabin of the X-Trail was comfortable, spacious, and practical.
Powering the Nissan X-Trail was a 2184 cc diesel engine that churned out 136 PS and 314 Nm. The engine came mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The power was channeled to all four wheels via a 4WD transfer case which also had lockable differentials. In terms of safety, the Nissan X-Trail featured ABS, EBD, airbags, active headrests, reinforced cabin structure, and seat pre-tensioners in addition to the rear-center 3-point seat belt.

The X-Trail had four exterior colour options - Burning Red, Dark Blue Pearl, Black, and Silver Metallic. The car received a face-lift in the year 2010 after which, it was soon discontinued due to poor sales performance as brands like Toyota and Ford had launched cars such as the Fortuner and the Endeavour respectively which not only had a seven-seat configuration but were highly VFM as well due which the buyers preferred these over the X-Trail.
