Norton's New Bikes For India; Details

Earlier, we told you that TVS plans to launch six new Norton motorcycles by 2027, which will likely be made in India. New reports now suggest that Norton is developing new platforms which will spawn both single-cylinder and twin-cylinder motorcycles. While the single-cyinder motorcycle could be anywhere between 400-450cc, the twin-cylinder bikes could fit into the 600-650cc category. Whether or not these bikes will come with an air-cooled engine or a liquid-cooled engine is something time will answer.

While the timeline of these bikes remains unknown for now, Norton could perhaps reveal some information about these motorcycles around that timeline, with a debut or launch set for soon after that. Apart from these bikes, Norton could also look at local assembly of its foreign portfolio, which includes the new Commando, the V4CR, and the V4SV.

These are interesting times for bikers, and with another Indian-owned British marque entering the competition, it remains to be seen how Bajaj-Triumph and Royal Enfield will answer back.

Verdict

With Norton, TVS is seriously gunning for Royal Enfield's share of the market; something that has been attempted by many manufacturers before. However, with future Nortons likely to be made in India, it remains to be seen how these bikes eventually turn up.
