Ola e-scooters are bound to get costlier by 3-5 percent after Holi as announced by the CEO on the company's social media handles. The Tamil Nadu-based electric vehicles manufacturer is soon going to raise the price of their product range. A software update is also on the cards to make the products perform better along aiding the riders.
Since the launch, Ola e-scooters have been a hoot in the electric two-wheeler market and have taken aback the rivals with havoc due to their increasing sales and popularity among the new electric scooter buyers. Sales reports have already showcased to us that Ola has reached the top 5 electric two-wheeler makers in India. By the end of March 2022, Ola electric is supposed to reach the top-selling position due to the increasing demand for the S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters.
Currently, Ola is already producing 1,000 electric scooters every day in their TN situated production plant; an increment in the production is already on the cards. Keeping in mind the growing popularity and demand, Ola has decided to increase the price marginally by 3-5%.
Ola has also announced that they have been working on a new MoveOS 2.0 software for their electric scooters. This update will bring the new features such as turn-by-turn navigation, companion app, location sharing with the scooter, nearby charging station locater on the go, cruise control, and a promised improvement in the bugs associated with the performance issues which Ola electric has been criticized for a long time by various owners pan India.
The new operating system update will be for the existing owners as well which can be upgraded via an OTA update at all the service centres. This update will come by the end of April 2022.
Along with this, Ola electric is also planning to invest and bid on the PLI scheme by the government of India to create battery storage capacity. The new PLI scheme will also allow manufacturers to locally start manufacturing the Lithium-Ion battery cells which are currently being imported completely; making the EV production costs marginally higher in India.
Currently, Ola S1 and S1 Pro are offered with standard features such as geo-fencing, time fence, side stand alert, tamper alert, speed limit alert, and even mode restrictions such as speed limit restrictions in various riding modes. Ola S1 is currently priced at Rs 85,099 (ex-showroom) while the S1 Pro is priced at Rs 1.10 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The main rivals include the likes of Ather 450X and the Bajaj Chetak e-scooters.
