Companies have reported their March 2023 sales and the EV 2 Wheeler segment has a clear winner. Ola Electric dominated the segment, followed by TVS at the 2nd spot, and Ather being the 3rd place holder. It comes even after the controversy that Ola went through in the past.
Let's check out the top 10 sales numbers.
Ola Electric Retains The No. 1 Spot

With a total of 21,220 units sold in 2023 March, Ola Electric came at the top as the undisputed king. The TVS electric with its iQube range sat at the second position comfortably with 16,731 units. The third position goes to Ather with 12,067 units sold. Ampere, Hero Electric, and others followed suit.
Let us chart it out for a clearer understanding.
Brand | Sales |
Ola | 21,220 |
TVS | 16,731 |
Ather | 12,067 |
Ampere | 9,333 |
Hero Electric | 6,652 |
Okinawa | 4,505 |
Chetak | 2,332 |
Bajaj Auto | 2,150 |
Okaya EV | 1,762 |
Kinetic Green | 1,641 |
Bigshot 2-wheeler companies like the Hero, and Bajaj Auto seem to be a little behind in the EV race, and could soon catch up. But one thing that is clear from this chart is the opening up of the market for the electric 2-wheeler segment. More people are moving towards electric scooters, and to capitalize on this front, Electric Honda Activa is also coming to the showrooms in near future.

What does The Future Hold?
Ola Electric faces stiff competition with the TVS and Ather. The Ola S1 and the S1 Pro directly compete with the TVS iQube range and the Ather 450X range for the time being. The behemoth of the scooter segment, Honda Activa is very soon coming in an electric avatar to wipe out the new entrants in this segment. When that happens, it is sure to send this segment into a frenzy, due to the brand name that Activa made for itself in the past 10 years.
It would be an interesting thing to see how the future scenarios unfold when more people start their seismic shift towards electric mobility in 2 wheels.
