We all know that Electric Mobility is the future and so a lot of companies are working in the direction of developing EVs. In India, while we have a limited number of electric motorcycles and cars, we have a lot of electric scooters. Also, it is worth mentioning that more than mass-market players, we have newbies and start-ups in the country which are developing some great electric two-wheelers! Just a few months ago, we came to know that Ola is planning to enter the electric scooter segment of India. And now, Ola is all set to set up the world's largest scooter plant in Tamil Nadu, India.
Ola Cabs (popularly known as Ola) is basically a ridesharing company. It is a mobile application-based mobility service provider that offers new services to people which include hired cabs for commute and it also serves as a food delivery solution. Ola spun off its electric vehicles business into a separate entity known as Ola Electric Mobility in February 2019. Just like its parent company Ola, the Ola Electric is also based in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Just a few months ago, the company announced that it will enter the premium electric two-wheeler space both globally as well as nationally. To push its new EV project even further, earlier this year, the company also acquired the Amsterdam-based electric scooter manufacturer called Etergo BV.
