ORA R1: World's Most Affordable Electric Car To Make Its Debut At Auto Expo
ORA R1 side

Electric cars are getting a lot of traction, even in India but the biggest problem with EVs is their high price tag as they use battery packs and electric motors which costs more when compared to IC engines. Great Wall Motors, which has been all over the news, will be going to make their debut at the 2020 Auto Expo with the Haval brand showcasing its SUV lineup which consists of SUVs like H2, H4, H6 and H9. Along with their SUV lineup, it is also expected that they might also showcase their most affordable electric car in the world: The ORA R1.

ORA R1 interiors

ORA R1 is a fully electric urban hatchback and its price range starts from 59800 Yuan and goes to 77800 Yuan which, if converted to Indian currency is around 6-9 lakhs making it a very affordable electric car. We don't know the actual expected price once its goes on sale here in the future. Powering the ORA R1 is a 35KW motor and has a certified range of over 300 kilometres. That's a lot when EVs like MG ZS EV and Tata Nexon give the same amount of range but at double the prices.

GWM recently showed up on twitter too by saying "Namaste India! All set for great things ahead". Although we don't have legit data on the line up which is going to make its debut at the 2020 Auto Expo, we can expect cars like Haval H4 and ORA R1 to be showcased at the event. There will be no direct rival to the ORA R1 as the Tata Altroz EV will cost way more and Mahindra E20 might not make its way further. It will be enjoying a huge margin of market share if launched with proper charging infrastructure and attractive pricing.
