Original Article: July 16, 2020; Electric is the Future! Since the past few months (and years), we all have been reading/listening to the sentence that electric vehicles are the future. The automobile manufacturers are now coming up their electric vehicles and every automaker wants to have now at least one EV in their portfolio. This is happening not just in foreign countries but in India too. Moreover, not just traditional carmakers but a lot of start-ups are also coming up with great EVs. Today, we have for you an Electric Sedan from a Bengaluru-based start-up. This is the Pravaig Extinction MK1 Electric Sedan and we will discuss that can it be India's Home-grown Tesla?
If we talk about the Electric Mobility Scene of our country, so India is currently in the nascent stage. We have a very limited infrastructure for EVs and that too only in the big metro cities of the country. People living in the Tier-II cities and in smaller towns aren't ready for EVs at all. We Indians are completely dependent on Internal Combustion Engines. The main reason why we are skeptical about EVs is range anxiety. In India, we had low-range EVs and electric scooters for a long time. But, things got exciting when Hyundai launched the Kona Electric. Following the Kona EV, MG launched the ZS EV and Tata launched the Nexon EV in India. Now, a lot of other carmakers are planning to introduce electric cars in the country.
Now, coming back to our Indian Tesla - Pravaig Extinction MK1 Electric Sedan. Pravaig Dynamics Private Limited is a Bengaluru-based start-up and this company is developing this electric sedan. At this moment, we have no information about the powertrain of this electric car, so we can just assume it. But, what we do know is how it looks. Pravaig has begun the testing of the Pravaig Extinction MK1 Electric Sedan on the streets of Bengaluru. As you can see in the video above, the Pravaig MK1 Electric Sedan looks drop-dead gorgeous. This sedan is an eye magnet and you just can't ignore it.
The Pravaig MK1 Electric Sedan gets a low-slung front profile with projector LED headlamps. It also gets a thin strip of LED that connects both the projectors and gives it a striking appeal. The test mule was finished in white shade and it gets Pravaig badging on the hood. The car doesn't get cuts and creases, it gets a simple profile but looks really good. Coming to the side profile, it gets a coupe-like sloping roofline. It is a two-door four-seater car and gets plush-fitting door handles and the turn-indicators are mounted on the front fenders. Now, coming to the rear profile, so it is more of a fastback than a sedan. It gets slim all-LED taillights and just like the front, it gets a thin strip of connecting LED at the rear too.

As mentioned before, we don't have any information about the powertrain of this electric sedan. So, we are just making a guesstimate. We are expecting that the Pravaig MK1 Electric Sedan will get around 30-40 kWh battery. The powertrain will get an electric motor and we expect it to develop at least around 150 PS of power with 300 Nm of peak torque, considering it looks like an electric Sports car. Like all other electric vehicles, it will be also coupled to a one-speed automatic transmission. It might get driving modes too and we expect at least 300 kilometres of range from this EV. Pravaig Dynamics might also offer regular as well as fast DC charging solutions for the sedan.
This was all about the Pravaig Extinction MK1 Electric Sedan. We had a chat with Pravaig Dynamics and it is expected that the company will reveal some details about this electric sedan within a month or so. We expect that the upcoming Pravaig Electric Sedan will be priced very competitively. Pravaig might initially offer this electric sedan only in Bengaluru. The company might expand its offering in other metro cities too in a phase-wise manner. Will it be India's Home-grown Tesla? So, to be very honest, looks-wise it looks really great. But, can it be a great offering? Only time will tell that, so let's wait and watch.
