Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd is now all set to implement the India 2.0 project. Under the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India 2.0 project, the brand will be starting its second innings int the Indian market with the launch of a number of new vehicles next year. Moreover, the brand is also expanding the capacity at the Chakan, Pune plant which also includes re-tooling new assembly lines and expanding the operations. Speaking about the same, Zac Hollis also confirmed that there are no plans of launching an electric vehicle in the Indian market right now. Read on to find more details.
The newly launched 1.0-L TSI will be a major turning point for the brand as it will be powering most of the vehicles which will be introduced in the Indian market. The 1.0-L TSI engine replaced the older 1.5-L MPI engine which earlier powered the Vento and the Rapid. Having said that, the maximum power output from this new engine stands at 110 PS while the peak torque figures stand at 175 Nm. A six-speed manual and automatic gearboxes come mated to this engine. The upcoming Vision IN is also expected to use the same engine-gearbox combination.

Having said that, the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India 2.0 project will focus on increasing the retail and service network of both the brands and thus improving the customer outreach and brand awareness. In addition to this, the brand is also focusing on adding new first time customers via its pre-owner car ventures. As a part of India 2.0, all the three Indian subsidiaries of the German carmaker were merged together to utilise the capabilities of all these brands more efficiently and also enabling them to make quick decisions at the senior management level.
Both the brands will be utilising the MQB-A0-IN platform for launching a total of four new cars in the next year. The MQB-A0-IN is a highly localised platform which will be underpinning the new vehicles for the brand. In addition to this, the German carmaker invested a total of one billion euros under this India 2.0 project and aims to triple its market share to 5 % by 2025.
