Skoda Electric Cars Soon To Be Introduced In India!

Skoda Auto India has recently launched the Slavia and Kushaq which have specially been designed from the scratch in the Indian homelands. Both these vehicles are available with stratified injection based turbocharged petrol engines, the 1.0 litre 3 cylinder and the 1.5 litre 4 cylinder displacements. The Volkswagen Audi group discontinued its Diesel engines due to the strict Bharat Stage - VI emission norms and has no plans to offer alternate fuel options. However, the brand revealed that Skoda electric cars would soon hit the Indian market.

As per the Czech automobile manufacturer, they estimate that the Indian car consumer market would be dominated by a chuck of at least 25 to 30 percent by electric vehicles by the end of this decade. Therefore, the brand plans to introduce electric vehicles to India and expects them to pick up well seeing the wave of electric mobility. A few premium offerings from Audi and Porsche stablemates are all electric and would help access Skoda Auto India to identify various factors concerning the development and sustenance of an electric powertrain in the Indian climate.

Skoda Auto India concretely believes that the newly developed MQB A0 IN platform is capable of sustaining the needs of the brand's current aspirations. Moreover, they revealed that with the ongoing TSI engine options, platform and technology, a CNG powertrain is not on the cards. The development of a CNG powertrain would require resources to be managed from the scratch, resulting in a premium pricing which won't lure buyers. CNG vehicles in India are mostly used commercially or for local commute and comprise of the low end of the market.

Receiving a robust response with the current products like Kushaq, Slavia, Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq on sale, Skoda aims to step up its sales volumes manifolds with the current portfolio. Thus, Skoda Electric Cars seem to be on the cards which would be planned after significant research and development. It is also suspected that Skoda Auto India is evaluating all the factors involved to bring its all electric SUV, the Enyaq, through the Completed Knocked Down (CKD) or Completely Build Unit (CBU) route, whichever turns our to be favourable. The Skoda Enyaq was globally unveiled in the last quarter of 2020, and has managed to receive a great response in the international markets.
