Skoda Auto India along with the entire Volkswagen Group is prepping-up to kick-start its second inning in India christened as India 2.0 project and under this strategy, the brands will be launching multiple India-specific cars at competitive prices to attract the Indian Car Buyers. The first car to come under this project is the Upcoming Skoda Vision IN mid-size SUV which made its world premiere as a concept model in New Delhi early this year. And now according to recent media reports, the production version of the Skoda Vision IN SUV will be called Skoda Kliq or Skoda Kosmiq.

The Czech carmaker had showcased the concept version of this SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo and it gathered a lot of eyeballs. This India centric product will be launched in India in mid-2021 and Skoda is aiming a localisation of up to 96 per cent for its upcoming cars. While the production version of the SUV is still a year away, the car manufacturer has patented four different names for its upcoming Vision IN SUV and they are - Skoda Kliq, Skoda Kosmiq, Skoda Karmiq, and Skoda Konarq.
Out of these four trademarked names, it is highly probable that the production model of the Skoda Vision IN concept SUV will be called Skoda Kliq. The patent name for the upcoming SUV was filed with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (India). The upcoming Skoda Kliq will be the first product in India to be based on Volkswagen Groups localized MQB A0 IN platform.
The concept version of Skoda Kliq was showcased at the Auto Expo and it got a bold upright stance with multiple creases and cuts on the hood as well as on the bonnet. It featured Skodas signature grille with sleek projector headlamps and a three-slot aluminium skid plate. It also got large alloy wheels with roof rails at the top and the rear profile was housed by sharp taillights that seemed to be connected with a LED strip. The concept version also got an illuminated Skoda logo to further enhance its appeal.
Skoda has revealed the interiors too of the concept version and it does look premium and sporty with a lot of orange colour accents. The dashboard features a free-standing screen, chrome-plated AC vents, a multi-function three-spoke steering wheel, a virtual cockpit, etc. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol engine that churns out 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. There will be no diesel engine on offer.

Skoda has officially confirmed that the production version of this Vision IN Concept SUV will be launched in India between April-June 2021. This upcoming Skoda Kliq is likely to be priced between Rs. 10 lakhs - Rs. 16 lakhs, Ex-showroom and will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, etc.
