Skoda India is now coming back on track with a lot of new cars. We have already seen the launch of the Skoda Rapid, Karoq and Superb and more to come soon. The Rapid is doing really well for the Czech carmaker - all thanks to its TSI engine and impeccable value. Skoda also unveiled the Kodiaq petrol at the 2020 Auto Expo and that was scheduled to hit the showrooms later this year. Zac Hollis now confirms that the Kodiaq petrol launch has been delayed and slated for early 2021.
The global pandemic has affected operations of all the industries and we also saw some delayed launches of some cars as well. Due to the disturbed supply chain and other hurdles, the Kodiaq petrol launch has been delayed. Due to the same reasons, the launch timeline of the 2021 Skoda Octavia also seems to be affected. The 2021 Skoda Octavia was slated to get launched in early 2021 but now as the Kodiaq is getting delayed, Octavia will also see a delayed launch. However, the future in-house developed products of Skoda India like the Vision IN and new sedan may follow their respective launch timelines.

The Skoda Kodiaq isn't a new car entirely as the Kodiaq diesel was on sale before the BS6 norms came in. The Kodiaq diesel was powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine, offered in a single AWD trim. Skoda also launched the Kodiaq Scout last year which was an offroad-oriented incarnation of the Kodiaq.
As Skoda India has put the TDI horses on hold, the Kodiaq will be a petrol-only offering. The Kodiaq petrol will be powered by 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine producing 190hp and 320 Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox and it will be offered with AWD. The Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace also comes with the same powertrain.
