After registering a sufficiently favourable response for Kushaq, its first-ever MQB-A0-IN-based offering, Skoda India has today revealed that the next all-new car for our market will be a sedan that will debut in Winter 2021. Dubbed Skoda Slavia, the new model is being touted as the logical successor to the decade-old Rapid. Like the Kushaq, the Slavia will be underpinned by the Indian-ised version of the MQB architecture.

The upcoming sedan has already been spotted undergoing road tests on numerous occasions. The new model, as per various sources, will be positioned higher than the Rapid. Itll be even bigger than the outgoing model, with an expected overall length of 4,480 mm (vs 4,413 mm for Rapid). It is also expected to offer the segment-best wheelbase of 2,651 mm (vs 2,600 mm for Honda City).
In all likelihood, the Skoda Slavia will share all its engines with the Kushaq, which means the new model will be available with two turbocharged petrol engines a 1.0-litre three-pot TSI and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI EVO. Both the motors will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. However, the smaller of the two will be optionally available with a 6-speed torque-converter unit while the bigger engine will be offered with an optional 7-speed DSG. Moreover, the 1.0-litre unit will output a maximum power of 115 PS and a peak torque of 178 Nm. On the other hand, the bigger motor will pump out a maximum of 150 PS and 250 Nm.
