SONY has unveiled their second concept electric vehicle, the Vision-S 02 SUV at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Their first EV was the Vision-S electric saloon.
After unveiling their first saloon EV, the Vision-S 01 electric, SONY has now unveiled their second EV, the Vision-S 02. It can seat seven people, produces 535 bhp, and comes with an all-wheel drivetrain along with an air suspension system. SONYs car-shaped computer is packed to the brim with features that make it one of the most advanced EVs of the future. Now, the question is will Sony be able to able to make this Vision come true?
The multinational tech company are already working on creating a separate entity called, Sony Mobility Incorporated. This new establishment will be entrusted with the duty to explore ways to enter the EV market.

Their debut car, the Vision is already being tested on-road, which was initially dismissed as more of a technological showcase. Both the bespoke Vision-S 01 and Vision-S 02 are based on the EV platform. Both the cars also come equipped with all-wheel drive and double-wishbone front and rear suspension Air Spring System. Both the saloon and SUV comes powered with 200kW motors on both the front and rear axle. The saloon can do 0-62 mph in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 149 mph, the performance figures of the Vision-S 02 are yet to be confirmed.
The dimension of the Vision-S 02 makes it similarly-sized to the Tesla Model Y crossover. The 7-seater SUV measures 4,895 mm long, 1,930 m wide, and 1,651 mm tall. The unveiled model looks production-ready, and it features autonomous driving of Level 2+ driver assistance systems. The car is surrounded by high-sensitivity, high-resolution, wide dynamic range sensors to enhance safety. But the centre of attraction has to be the panoramic dashboard with three infotainment screens stacked side by side that looks like one whole screen.

The car manufacturing business is not an easy one. Several manufacturers in the past have tried their hands, and many have dropped out simply because they couldnt keep up. But if theres any company that fulfils the criteria to achieve this uphill task, it has to be SONY. For, the Japanese multinational conglomerate boasts a considerable and consistent profit margin from multiple avenues. These include TVs, Cameras, Laptops, Phones, Gaming Consoles, Headphones, Stereos, Studio Albums and Feature Films.

If SONY manages to launch this car, then it will first launch in Europe & America. Eventually. It might make its way into Indian shores.
