We all know Electric is the Future and gradually the entire world is transitioning towards green mobility. However, EVs are currently in their nascent stage and so they are very expensive to own. But, what if we tell you we have for you India's most affordable electric vehicle which is neither a two-wheeler nor a four-wheeler. Yes, the electric vehicle which we have in our today's article is an eco-friendly compact personal mobility solution and it is a trike. This is the Strom R3 EV - an electric three-wheeler with car-like features and in this article, we will be telling you everything about it.

Starting off with its looks, as you can see it is a reverse trike as it gets two wheels at the front and a single wheel set-up at the rear and the body has a very edgy design. The front and rear bumpers of the EV have a very sharp layout, it gets sweptback headlamps, round taillamps, all-around glass for better visibility and it also gets an electric sunroof as well as a rear spoiler. Talking about dimensions, it is even smaller than the Tata Nano. The Strom R3 EV measures 2907mm in length, 1450mm in width, 1572mm in height and gets 13-inch alloy wheels.
Talking about the powertrain of the EV, it will be powered by a 15 kW electric AC motor that churns out 20.4 PS of power and a whopping 90 Nm of torque, mated to a single-speed automatic transmission. The Trike EV will be paired with a Lithium-ion battery pack that is claimed to have 1 lakh+ kilometres of life span and can deliver a range of 200 kilometres in a single charge. The Strom R3 can be charged via a regular charger that takes just three hours to fully juice-up the batteries and the charging port is placed at the rear. The EV also has an electronically limited top speed of 80 kmph.
The Strom R3 EV is a very feature-loaded trike. It gets a lot of creature comfort features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 4G connectivity, 20GB music storage, voice and gesture control, turn by turn navigation, mobile connectivity and more. It also gets a three-spoke steering wheel with a 4.3-inch digital instrument cluster with onboard GPS navigation and a 2.4-inch digital auxiliary touchscreen. This compact EV also gets air-conditioning, power windows, IOT-enabled (Internet Of Things) Continuous Monitoring System, and more.
Lastly, talking about its launch timeline and price. The Strom R3 EV is an indigenous electric trike developed by a Mumbai-based start-up Strom Motors in a plant located just outside the Mumbai city. It was originally slated to be launched in March this year but due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic, the launch has been further delayed and now it is expected to be launched in August this year. Once launched, it is expected to be priced around Rs. 4.5 lakhs, Ex-showroom and at this price, it comes across as a very sensible personal mobility solution for intra-city commutes.
