With the Tata Gravitas being spied undisguised in a yard, questions have arisen as to when is going to launch. Read our article to find more.
First showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, the 7 seater derivative of the Harrier has been undergoing rigorous road testing for quite some time now. Plenty of pictures of the camouflaged test mules have been doing rounds on the internet since quite a long time
The leaked image only shows us the rear. The rear end does look quite a bit different from the Harrier as the Gravitas has a more upright rear end compared to its smaller sibling. While the rear of the Gravitas gets LED taillamps like the Harrier, the Gravitas also gets squared wheel arches, roof rails, a roof-mounted spoiler, a large tailgate with 'Gravitas' lettering, massive rear windscreen and a chunkier rear bumper that goes well with the proportions of the car.

While no pictures of the front end of the car were revealed, the Gravitas is expected to share the same front end as that of the Harrier with some revisions to differentiate it from its smaller sibling. It is also expected that the Gravitas will have an interior that is similar to the Harrier with the exception of multiple trim options.
The Gravitas is expected to be powered by the same 2.0 litre MultiJet Diesel engine that also does duties on the Harrier as well as in one of its competitors - The MG Hector Plus. The engine produces 168 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. The Gravitas is expected to be offered with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The launch of the Gravitas is an important one for Tata for multiple reasons. For the starters, the hurried launch of the Harrier meant that it lost whatever advantage it had to other cars in the segment. Thus the Gravitas launch becomes an extremely important event which needs to be executed properly. Also, other brands such as MG and Mahindra will be beginning their onslaught of vehicles as well with launches such as the Hector Plus 7 seater and the next-gen XUV500 in the pipeline.

Upon launch, the Gravitas is expected to be priced around 17-22 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will be going up against the 7 seater MG Hector Plus, 7 seater Jeep Compass when it comes and the next-gen XUV500.
