Tata HBX Spied on Test in India Once Again - The Handsome Micro SUV!

Tata Motors started the year 2020 with a bang. This Bombay-based Indian car manufacturer launched its first premium hatchback Altroz in January this year. At the same launch event, Tata also launched the facelifted Tiago, Tigor and Nexon. Then came the 15th edition of the Auto Expo where the company launched the new Harrier 2020. Tata Motors also showcased a host of upcoming products at the 2020 Auto Expo. Some of them were concept models while the others were almost production-ready. One of them was Tata's upcoming micro-SUV HBX. The Tata HBX has now been spied on test in India once again and it reveals new interesting details.

The Tata HBX has been recently spied on test on the outskirts of Pune in Maharashtra. The spied test mule of the HBX retains the overall persona of the concept model but it seems that it is the final production version of the micro-SUV. At the show floor, the company showcased the HBX loaded with chunky off-road bits. But, the production model gets none of them, for good. The HBX showcased at the Auto Expo got chunky off-road traits like off-road tyres, bash plates on all sides, roof rack with spare tyre, etc. The production model looks the same as the concept version, minus those show elements.

The upcoming Tata HBX will be based on Tata's ALFA platform which also underpins the Altroz. The images reveal that it will get Harrier-like stylish LED DRLs on top and the headlamps are positioned below. The front bumper of this micro-SUV gets triangular accents just like the Nexon Facelift and it gets fog lamps too. The new Tata HBX gets stylish dual-tone machined-cut alloy wheels and it might also get roof rails. At the rear, it gets a bit sloping stance and there is a rear wiper too. The HBX will get body-cladding all around and skid plates both at the front as well as at the rear.

The Tata HBX will be powered by a BS6-compliant 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated engine. This is the same motor that also powers the Tiago, Tigor and Altroz. It will produce around 86 PS of power at 6000 RPM and 113 Nm at 3300 RPM. The HBX will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AMT. As per reports, it might also get a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol at a later point of time. The new Tata HBX is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2021. The HBX will sit below the Nexon in Tata's India line-up. Upon launch, it will lock horns against the Mahindra KUV100 and the Maruti Suzuki Ignis.
