There is a lot of talk happening around the Hexa since Tata announced the launch of the Gravitas in the Indian market. A new report suggests that Tata will launch the BS6 compliant version of the Hexa in the Indian market and it will not get discontinued as rumoured earlier.
Tata's 2.2-litre VARICOR engine that powers the current version of the Hexa will be updated to meet the new regulations and emission compliance. The four-cylinder diesel engine in its current state of tune produces a maximum power of 148 Bhp and peak torque of 320 Nm in the lower-end variants and a maximum power of 154 Bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque in the top-end options. The power and torque output is likely to remain the same.
Currently, Tata is offering massive discounts on the Hexa to clear the old stock of the vehicle. It is currently the most expensive vehicle from the manufacturer and offers only diesel engine option. However, it also offers a 4WD system and an Automatic option, which are missing from the Tata Harrier. The updated BS6 compliant Tata Hexa is expected to provide the same features.
Tata will soon launch the seven-seater version of the Harrier in the Indian market, which will be known as the Gravitas. It seems like Tata will allow the Gravitas to fill the void of the Hexa till the BS6 compliant version arrives by the end of this year. It should be noted that after 1st April 2020, BS4 compliant vehicles will not get registered at any of the RTO across India. We can safely assume that the Tata Hexa will be absent from the market for a few months before returning back.
It is not known if Tata will use the opportunity to launch a facelifted version of the Hexa in the market. The Tata Hexa takes on the likes of Mahindra XUV500 in the market. However, with the BS6 compliant engine, the price of the vehicle will increase by a substantial amount. Tata is yet to announce the details officially though.
