The ongoing chip shortage has badly affected the Indian automotive industry and has taken a toll on the production of new units of cars in the country. We saw a number of manufacturers resort to various ways to deal with this shortage and in a recent move, Tata Motors too has decided to trim down the features on offer. The Indian carmaker recently decided to offer only one key with select models to reduce the use of semiconductor chips. Here are all the details that we know so far.
For starters, the brand will now only be offering a single remote key with the models like the Tata Punch, Tata Altroz, Tata Harrier, and the Tata Safari. While the base models will continue to be offered with two manual keys, it is the fully loaded iteration of the cars that will now only get a single remote. The move comes in after there seems to be no improvement in the semiconductor availability in the market in the coming days.

Having said this, Tata Motors is currently one of the best selling car brands in the Indian market and is offering well-built, comfortable, good-looking, and feature-rich offerings to buyers looking for safe and affordable cars for their families. It will be interesting to see whether the brand will re-introduce the features and a second key in the coming months once the semiconductors are readily available or not.
The brand also introduced the Tiago iCNG and the Tigor CNG in the Indian market and is expected to expand its CNG line-up in the coming months. The Tiago CNG and the Tigor CNG offer a powerful and feature-rich package to the buyers and also attract a lot of eyeballs with their safe and practical cabin.
