Tata Motors has disclosed its plans to invest $ 1 billion to revive its CV line-up. The roadmap will eventually lead to the development of commercial EVs.
Indias largest truck maker, Tata Motors, has set the roadmap for the next four-five years with respect to its commercial vehicles. With investments worth up to $ 1 billion, Tata Motors will be rapidly transitioning its CV line-up to CNG, LPG models. This will further aid in the transition to a well-equipped EV ecosystem. The announcement comes after Tata passenger EVs have taken a definite stride towards positive sales, and shortly after Ashok Leyland announced their plans to make CNG-LPG-run CVs.
Tata Motors will develop a new platform that can accommodate CNG, LPG, Diesel, and Electric powertrains in the future. Mr. Greek Warg, the Executive Director of Tata Motors Commercial Vehicle have emphasized this further to ET, We are working on a variety of options for Last One Mile short-range battery-powered vehicles, offering smaller CV products and gas-based fuel cell electric vehicles for a wider range.

Mr. Warg further explained that electrification happens via gas fuel. And the infrastructural changes that happen via the distribution of CNG make it suitable for EV transition. Improving the distribution (of CNG) is expected to accelerate further. He further emphasized the scope of restructuring, to which he added, We revisited the& Wag redesigns the modularization strategy to prioritize and prioritize on the backend, he said. Work is being done, he added.
