After the eye-catching stint at the Auto Expo 2023, Tata has finally launched the Red Dark Edition of its star SUVs. Tata Safari and Harrier were already unveiled with the design updates made public. The official launch is now inclusive of a Tata Nexon Red Dark Edition as well. Safari and Harrier are now richer in features, whereas the Nexon only comes with a cosmetic overhaul. As expected, The Dark Red Edition will be the top-spec trim of its lineup.

The talk of the town is not just the Dark Red color tone. The new Safari and Harrier have been blessed with ADAS in their new dark-themed variants. Where the safari was lacking in comparison with the Mahindra XUV700, is now no more a binding factor for Tata's workhorse. The Harrier is also now more ready than ever to face the heat of rivalry from players such as the 2023 MG Hector and more.
The infotainment screen has grown to be a 10.25-inch display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which now feels a little more feasible to operate. It was a much-needed improvement as it felt a little dated, according to the present times. Let us look at more updates in detail.

Harrier and Safari have already been brimmed with a range of hi-tech features. Key highlights of Harrier and Safari Dark Red editions include a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, front ventilated seats, a 6-way powered driver seat with memory function, air purifier, wireless charger, and over 200+ voice commands in 6 languages. Safari sports an additional Boss Mode that allows you in the second row, to electrically adjust the position of the front passenger seat.
The Interior is the place that screams the theme. Tata Red Dark edition dons the Carnelian Red leatherette upholstery on the armrest, and door handles. The Centre console also has the Carnelian Red treatment. Creating an exciting contrast with the red shade are the glossy black elements used very sophisticatedly across its interiors. The overall red-black theme is further enhanced with red ambient lighting around the door handles and panoramic sunroof.

Tata Nexon, Safari, Harrier Dark Red Edition; Engine Remains same
Tata Dark Red editions are more of a cosmetic and feature overhaul. Engine options are carried over from the existing line-up. Harrier and Safari come with a 2.0-liter turbo diesel motor. The power output figures are 170 PS of max power and 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission choices include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic.
Tata Nexon comes with 1.2-liter turbo petrol and 1.5-liter turbo diesel. Power and torque output is 120 PS / 170 Nm and 115 PS / 260 Nm, respectively. Transmission choices for both engines include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT. Dark Red Editions of all three SUVs come with a standard warranty of 3 years / 1 lakh km (whichever is earlier).
VERDICT- The Red Dark edition is a really promising and much-needed product from Tata. It caters to the pain points of the existing models. The lack of features is now a thing of the past. Additional features especially ADAS in Safari and Harrier, now make them a fairly competitive product. Tata Nexon is just a cosmetic upgrade and everything else remains the same.
