Kia India is gearing up to make a comeback in the premium MPV segment with the introduction of the new Kia Carnival sometime in 2024. The third-generation Carnival was discontinued in India in June due to reaching the end of its product lifecycle. However, Kia is now preparing to reestablish its presence in the segment with a refreshed version of the Carnival. The new Carnival brings a host of enhancements and features, offering Indian consumers more comfort, style, and functionality.
Kia Carnival Confirmed For India
During the launch of the Seltos facelift, Kia India CEO Taejin Park confirmed that the facelifted version of the fourth-generation Carnival, yet to be unveiled globally, will be introduced in the Indian market. Park expressed, "We don't want old styles to come to the Indian market. We want the best, newest model to premiere here."
During the Auto Expo 2023 in India, Kia showcased the fourth-generation Carnival under the name Kia KA4. However, as the third-generation Carnival was still being on sale in the Indian market at that time, it was not officially introduced as the Carnival. The KA4, which has been on sale internationally for approximately three years, is now expected to receive a mid-lifecycle styling update in the near future. The new updated model is set to arrive in India.

The fourth-gen Carnival is undergoing testing in Korea with a facelift. It will receive major styling changes to match newer Kia models. The updated Carnival is expected to feature design cues from the Seltos facelift, including connected L-shaped tail lamps and Kia's signature Star Map lighting. This ensures that India and other markets will synchronize with the product lifecycle.
The upcoming Carnival will not only have a refreshed design but will also offer an array of additional features. Kia is expected to introduce the new MPV through the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route. It should help maintain competitive pricing. However, it is anticipated that there will be a notable increase in pricing compared to the third-generation Carnival. The outgone MPV had an ex-showroom price of approximately Rs. 31 lakhs.
Verdict
Since the Carnival sits at a premium range, it has a small set of buyers. Moreover, for a price range that high, it wa always a premium MPV. Even afer that, it enjoys continuous demand. Since demand keeps coming, the new Carnival will cater to a more wider audience with a lot of upgrades and tech on-board.Also, you must join our Whatsapp Group Community of petrolheads to find out more exciting stuff about the Auto world.
