We are sitting on our couches this quarantine and mesmerizing the charm and craze of effervescent old cars as we can't move our wheels on the road. In the past few days, we have shared features of some true icons like Tata Safari and Honda City with you. Today we have a very interesting car to talk about. It was in a class of its own and the beast we are featuring here has gone through some wicked modifications. It is none other than the San Storm, India's first 2-door Roadster which was launched way back in 1998. The San Storm was designed by a French firm and it was assembled in Bangalore.

What we have here is a meticulously modified San Storm built by Hyperformance Motorsports. It has got a lot of customisations to make it more powerful and snazzy. It looks similar to the stock car from the outside unless you move to the back and see that monstrous exhaust, which seems like, has a duty to cut the road apart in two pieces!
San Storm used to come with a Renault D7F engine which had a displacement of 1149 cc and it used to generate 60 Bhp. Quite meek for a car which looks so sporty. But due to the extended list of modifications, we are sure this one will churn out more than needed.
Talking about the modifications, it has got K&N conical air filter with stainless steel intake adaptor, Elevo Digital voltage stabilizer with silver-coated grounding wires, Elevo intake charger to pump more cold and dense air directly into the engine through the air vacuum pipes by detouring the air filter box and 5-inch tachometer with shift light. That exhaust I told you about- Nitto exhaust system. This Modified San Storm has also participated in various autocross events, hence it has got stiffened-up springs!
All these mods have given an additional 10-15 % boost in actual power output. This Modified San Storm was also showcased at the 2008 Auto Expo and it was a special built for a client. One of a kind we say! One of the key points of the San Storm was its lightweight body which leads to a phenomenal power-to-weight ratio. San Motors had plans for a hard top Storm and a crossover incarnation of the Storm too. But San motors closed its gates somewhere near 2013.

It is a pity that we are surrounded by lethargic and meek cars whereas the cars which exhilarate us are too expensive. No more such examples of cheap thrills there in the market!
