Every now and then, we witness a lot of Automobile Carnivals across the Globe, be it the famous Geneva International Motor Show, Frankfurt Motor Show or our own biennial event, the Delhi Auto Expo. It often happens that the showcased concepts end up being just at a carmakers stall at the Expo and never make to showroom floors. Likewise, rumours and online reports sometimes end up building a lot of expectations around a product but sadly, it never ever becomes a reality on Indian roads. In this article, we will be talking about such Top 10 Cars That We Wanted In India from Mahindra XUV 500 Aero To Tata Racemo.

Mahindra XUV 500 Aero
The first car in our list is from the popular Indian utility vehicle maker, Mahindra and Mahindra. The Indian carmaker had showcased the Mahindra XUV 500 Aero at the 2016 Auto Expo held in Greater Noida. This was a concept sport utility vehicle with a sloping roofline and a distinguishing coupe-esque silhouette. This concept SUV was designed by Mahindra's in-house design team in Mumbai with inputs from Pininfarina. The concept SUV sports a sloping roofline, massive wheel arches, Mustang-inspired tail-lamps, and a huge touchscreen in the centre console together giving it a futuristic appeal. Sadly, it will never make into production.
Hyundai i30
Hyundai i30 has been one of the most anticipated premium hatchbacks in the country with news floating around for years. The i30 slots above the Hyundai i20 in the company's global portfolio. Hyundai had indeed showcased the second-gen i30 in India at the 2016 Auto Expo and its test mules were also spotted in Chennai back in 2018 but still, its India launch is uncertain. Recently, Hyundai has also revealed the official images of the 2020 Hyundai i30 which was scheduled to make its premiere at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show, which was unfortunately called off. Moreover, Hyundai has also showcased the i30 N fastback in India at the 2020 Auto Expo and is evaluating its India launch plan. Will it make it here? Fingers still crossed.
Tata Nano Diesel
Tata Nano was first launched in the year 2008 with a tagline 'Khushiyon Ki Chaabi' and it became the most affordable passenger car in the world. Six years down the line and rumours developed that Tata Motors is bringing the Nano diesel that will become the cheapest diesel passenger car in the world. Some test mules of the Tata Nano Diesel were also spied in India in 2014 and even its engine specifications were out. Sadly the launch plan of the Nano Diesel was axed and now Tata has even bowed out the petrol-powered Nano forever. If it had been launched, the Tata Nano Diesel would have drawn power from a 0.8L common rail engine churning out 40PS of power and 94Nm of torque. Sigh!
Fiat Tipo [Linea Replacement]
Fiat Tipo was unveiled internationally in 2015 and was the global successor of Fiat Linea. The C2-sedan was also reported multiple times by the Indian media that it is coming to our shores to replace the ageing-Linea but that never happened. With the passage of time, Fiat's products started to feel very outdated as they didn't get any revisions at all and thus the Indian audience denied its acceptance. After a long-struggling course, the Italian car manufacturer finally terminated its India operation in 2019. We really think Fiat should have brought the Fiat Tipo to India as it would have been the beginning of a new era for Fiat in India.

Suzuki Swift Sport
The performance-oriented version of one of India's most selling hatch, the Suzuki Swift Sport, has been in the news headlines since years but still hasn't made its way to India. The Suzuki Swift Sport is a hot hatchback sold in the global markets, which the Indian enthusiasts have been craving for a long time. Maruti Suzuki officials denied the launch of the Swift Sport in India back in 2018 as it wouldn't generate good volumes. However, recently the new-gen Suzuki Swift Sport was spotted at the Delhi Airport hinting Suzuki might finally bring it here as people's buying decisions have changed and young buyers now prefer performance over practicality.
Nissan Patrol
Nissan Motor Company's biggest SUV, Nissan Patrol's India launch has been under evaluation for years. The Japanese car manufacturer has been assessing the Patrol SUV for launch here since 2010 as its Flagship SUV in the country, but unfortunately, it couldn't make to our shores yet. However, some new reports claim that the Nissan Patrol India Launch is being evaluated once again and it might be brought to India in 2021 as a CBU. The launch of the Nissan Patrol could be a torchbearer for the company as it is now trying to re-invent itself in the Indian market. Will it finally make it here or remain a dream for rich guns?
Tata Indica Vista Sports
Tata Indica was India's first indigenously developed passenger car launched in 1998 and the home-grown car manufacturer showcased the performance-oriented Indica at the 2012 Auto Expo. The Indica Vista Sports S2 Concept was showcased at the show floor and it looked wow, both cosmetically as well as on paper. The car got a lot of cosmetic surgery, hardware updates and mechanical upgrades over the regular Indica Vista. Tata Motors also plonked into it a new 1.4 litre turbo-charged MPFI petrol engine producing 140 PS of power. Sadly, the brand name Indica itself was taken off the market.
DC TCA Sports Car
DC Avanti is considered as India's first home-made sports car launched in 2015 and buoyed by the success of its first sports car, DC Design launched its second product at the 2018 Auto Expo. This time it was the highly-anticipated DC TCA sports car which took inspiration from the Pagani Zonda and LaFerrari in some terms. The name TCA stands for Titanium, Carbon and Aluminum and it was an exclusive, one of a kind sports car, as only 299 units of the DC TCA was said to be made. It was powered by a 3.8L, V6 petrol motor producing 320 PS of power, mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox with a 0-100 kmph time of just 4.5 seconds. However, it's been more than two years and we are yet to hear any news regarding the TCAs launch in India.
Suzuki Grand Vitara
The internet is flooded with articles that Maruti Suzuki is going to launch its flagship seven-seater premium SUV in India and it is the Suzuki Grand Vitara. Well, it has been in news since 2014 as three Grand Vitara's were spotted in India back then, most likely for testing purposes, but Suzuki officials never gave an official statement regarding its launch. Some reports even claim that the Grand Vitara will be launched in India in 2021 with a seven-seater layout and a powerful turbocharged petrol motor to give competition to the newbies like the Tata Harrier and the MG Hector but how authentic this info is, only time will tell that.
Tata Racemo Sports Car
The Tata RaceMo sports car made its world premiere at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show and was later showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo in New Delhi. Tata RaceMo was a drop-dead gorgeous looking sports car from the home-grown manufacturer. It was truly a sports car for India with a 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged petrol engine producing 190 PS of power and 210 Nm of torque with 0-100 kmph coming up in under 6 seconds. The engine was mated to a 6-speed AMT gearbox and it also got paddle shifters. The sports car even got an in-built camera that could click pictures of you tearing up the track. Unfortunately, the Tata RaceMo project was shelved as it demanded huge investment but we really wish Tata Motors brings a new sports car in the coming years and it makes itself to production avatar.
