Maruti and Toyota have been in talks for a long time that both the carmakers are planning to introduce midsize SUVs in India to compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta. The SUVs are expected to hit the Indian markets anytime before the 2022 festive season. As it is seen, the competition is getting stronger with the introduction of new models every now and then.
Earlier the demand for SUVs in the Indian market was limited however with the change in time and generation things have started changing. The upcoming Toyota - Maruti SUVs are manufactured in the Toyota Kirloskar Motors plant in Karnataka and are expected to come with class apart features and technology. However there are several other midsize SUVs that are available in the market like Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, Renault, Nissan and several others but these SUVs will be unique ones.

The all-new SUVs will be built on a newly designed platform known as DNGA that is designed and structured keeping in mind emerging standards of the market. This platform is used overseas in a number of Daihatsu and Toyota models. Toyota Camry is built on TNGA whereas these models will be built on DNGA platform.
Though both the SUVs are manufactured in Toyota's second plant at Bidadi, Karnataka but will be shared between the two just like Vitara Brezza and Urban Cruiser and Baleno and Glanza. It is expected that the cars will carry different looks and design from exterior and interior. The company is planning to launch the SUVs before this Diwali.

However, the Brezza, Urban Cruiser, Glanza, Baleno and a few more cars offer Smart-hybrid which is just a mild-hybrid technology but Toyota is planning to install a hybrid technology in the new SUVs just like Camry. Just like Camry, these motors till the time they are charged will allow the driver to drive on EV mode that will make the SUVs more fuel-efficient than any other in its segment.
The recent market standards are set to upmarket features where Hyundai and Kia are on top of the list. Toyota and Maruti will not let its SUVs be left behind and it is expected that the SUVs will have a long list of features and creature comforts. Maruti Suzuki like always is still on the top in the sales chart and this launch will be an important one for both the car manufacturers.

Collaborating with Toyota and launching a midsize SUV, Maruti has played smart to again grab more and more customers as those SUVs will be built on the latest DNGA platform. And also, Toyota is known for its hybrid technology that is already tried and tested in the Camry Hybrid that will also be a plus point for them.
The companies are not only planning to launch these two SUVs but Maruti is about to launch the upgraded Brezza, a facelift Baleno, and a few more models are in the list. Toyota will further update its Glanza and Urban Cruiser with its upcoming range of models.
