Toyota Corolla Cross Details
Toyota showcased the Corolla Cross at the Indian Auto Expo'23. The showcased model received plenty of positive feedback. Additionally, Toyota does not have any products in the mid-size SUV segment. Cars like Hyundai Tucson & Jeep Meridian are doing well. Hence, the need for Corolla Cross is justified. But, what will it be? Well, as per the reporting source, it will be based on the Innova Hycross platform. But, the chassis will be trimmed as per the size standards of the segment.
Additionally, Toyota will pitch this model with a 7-seat layout. In fact, the interiors will also share similar parts from the Hycross itself. Meanwhile, the engine & powertrain will also be the same. This means that the 2.0-lt petrol & petrol-hybrid options shall make their way on the Corolla Cross. But, we still can not confirm whether the power output of this engine will be the same or not. In order to make it look proper SUV, Toyota might change its exteriors with rugged cosmetic elements.
Verdict
Toyota has recently hiked the prices of its Inonova Hycross. Additionally, a new variant was also added to it. This shows that Toyota is intended for Indian customers. Hence, the Corolla Cross can become a mass-selling car if positioned properly. Meanwhile, we don't think that this will launch any time before early 2024 in India.
