Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor
The upcoming Urban Cruiser Taisor is anticipated to be a rebranded version of the Maruti Fronx, but featuring a distinct design. Toyota has initiated a shift in the exterior design elements of their rebadged models, aiming to distinguish them from their Maruti counterparts. This similar approach has been observed with models such as the Glanza and the Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
The Taisor model is expected to feature a different front design, showcasing revamped headlamps, grille, and an updated front bumper. On the side profile, there is an expectation of fresh alloy wheel design. Towards the rear, adjustments to the tail lamp design and rear bumper are likely, aimed at setting it apart from the Fronx. The frontal design could draw inspiration from Toyota's global lineup of SUVs.
Inside the cabin, there's a possibility of a fresh color scheme being introduced to the dashboard, seat upholstery, and door panels. Nevertheless, we can expect a familiar range of features, including a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, a Head-Up Display (HUD), a 360-degree camera, push-button ignition, rear AC vents, and various other features.

Upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor Engine
The upcoming Taisor model could potentially offer identical engine choices as the Fronx, including a 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine generating 99 bhp of power and 147 Nm of peak torque. This engine is coupled with both a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Another available engine option is the 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, delivering 89 bhp of power and 113 Nm of peak torque. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and an AMT gearbox.
Verdict
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor is likely to carry a heftier price tag in comparison to the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. With its design enhancements, the Taisor could appeal to a broader spectrum of potential sub-4 meter SUV buyers. Presently, Toyota lacks a sub-4 meter SUV in the Indian market, and the introduction of the Taisor will signify the brand's re-entry into this segment. The upcoming SUV will compete with the KIA Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and other sub-4 metre SUVs.
