The symbiotic relationship between Suzuki and Toyota in terms of joint product development and collaboration in production has hit the sweet spot for both entities. The industry has been quite astonished by this unique collaboration that swept away sales of rival brands. Now that the two brands have a strong platform for marketing and sales, for the first time ever, Suzuki is planning to roll out a car from Toyota's factory in India.
The two Japanese automakers are close to the launch of a new premium SUV that could compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and such. Both the companies have also announced the extension of their relationship by introducing green vehicles that include hybrids and electric vehicles (EV).
The new SUV has been in the works for quite some time now, according to top sources. It is said that the new product is a collaborative effort between Suzuki and Toyota in terms of designing, development of the product, engineering and such. The research and development team along with component sourcing teams have also played a significant role in the development of the new SUV which is likely to be introduced by the second half of 2022 in India.

This collaboration between the two brands could become aggressive in terms of marketing and sales as the Indian Government announced Rs.26,000-crore PLI or production-linked incentives scheme which is meant for electric and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles.
"While the original plan of the companies was to look at strong hybrids and other electrified versions (running on both battery and petrol), now the thoughts are being focused around pure electrics and even fuel cells. These are preliminary discussions, and nothing has been finalised as yet. However, it can be said with certainty that it's a joint future," one of the sources said.
As for the vehicle, the only information that has been received to date is that the car has been developed by both Toyota and Suzuki and the two companies will roll out the SUV with its own unique and individual styling. The vehicle will be produced at Toyota's Plant 2 in Bangalore, which is currently lying idle after the production of the sedan named Yaris was discontinued.
