Triumph Daytona - No More A Super Sports Bike?
As Triumph readies itself for the debut of the new Daytona, the expectations this time are different. The previous Daytona was a proper super sports bike. However, the new Daytona is going to be a fairly relaxed bike to use. The riding ergonomics shall be tuned for comfort, and so will be its new 660cc, inline-3-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This same engine is used on the Trident, where it has a peak power of 80 bhp & 64 Nm of peak torque. But in Daytona, it'll be re-tuned for better figures and faster performance.
Meanwhile, look closely at the teaser images, and you get the idea that its design will follow the iconic theme of the Daytona brand. The front will get dual-pod, sharp LED lights with a sculpted nose design. The full fairing will hide its new powerplant, while the rider will sit plunging forward in typical sports bike fashion. Feature-wise, we anticipate that equipment like a TFT console, navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, ride modes, traction control modes, etc, shall be offered. Triumph will globally unveil it on January 9 but the Indian debut shall take place sometime later this year.
Verdict
The Daytona sports bike was known for its extreme performance & lovely exhaust note. However, the latest transition with a smaller engine and a relaxed riding position is going to be mind-twisting for cult customers. We hope that Triumph Daytona stands back on the customer hopes perfectly.
