Husqvarna started its Indian innings with the radical-looking 250cc offerings, the Svartpilen and the Vitpilen motorcycles. These make use of the same motor as the KTM 250 models and carry an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.8 lakh. However, to make the brand more accessible to young buyers, the company is planning to launch lower-priced versions. We now have access to a spy picture that doing the rounds of various Whatsapp groups. It clearly showcases the upcoming Husqvarna 200 model undergoing real-world testing around Pune.
Husqvarna will be offering the 200cc model with both Svartpilen and Vitpilen. For the uninitiated, the former is a scrambler with a straight riding posture and dual purpose tyres while the latter comes with a cafe racer theme with lower handle bars and rear set pegs. The bike in the picture seems to be the Svatpilen as of now. There might be a possibility of Husqvarna settling down for just one 200cc offering this year, followed by the cafe racer 200cc next year.
The upcoming Husqvarna 200 bikes will make use of the same 199.5cc liquid cooled engine as the KTM 200 offerings. This engine makes about 25PS of power and 19.3 Nm of torque. Essentially, the price should come down by about Rs 30,000, this making these an apt bike for those looking at something out of the box. Features could include upside down forks, ABS, largest in segment disc brakes et al. Further, the bikes will weigh less than 150kg, giving them terrific power to weight ratios.
Lastly, it is fair to assume that the upcoming Husqvarna 200cc Svartpilen will share body panels, LED lights and frame with its elder 250cc sibling. Before we end, if you know about the genuine source for this image, leave us a comment below please. Thanks!
