At the 2020 Auto Expo, Mahindra & Mahindra's electric mobility division displayed the Atom electric vehicle. The Mahindra Atom EV is an extremely small, eye-catching, and attractive vehicle. The Atom is a quadricycle that will sit between a three and four-wheeler. It is a two-door, three-seat electric vehicle that is primarily intended to serve as an alternative to classic auto-rickshaws. The Atom was supposed to launch in 2020, but a pandemic-driven lockdown caused the vehicle's development to be put off. The battery pack options and variant are among the latest updates have surfaced on the internet.

Mahindra Atom - Variants & Battery Pack Details
The variant and battery pack information in a registration certificate is leaked online. The new certificate is issued under Transport category. The Atom will be offered in K1, K2, K3, and K4 varieties, shows the new document.
The Atom will use a Lithium Iron Phosphate (Li-FePO4) battery technology as specified in the certificate. Atom K1 and K2 models will have a 7.4 kWh battery pack, while the K3 and K4 models will have an 11.1 kWh battery pack. The battery capacities for the K1 and K2 are 144 Ah and 216 Ah, respectively. Electrical energy usage for K1 and K2 is 90 Wh per km and for K3 and K4 it is 106 Wh per km, according to AIS-039 requirements. The predicted range for K1 and K2 is 80 km, whereas for K3 and K4 it is around 100 km.
If we discuss the Mahindra Atom's design, it has a boxy shape, massive headlights, big windows, and a windshield. Its dimensions are 2,728 mm in length, 1,452 mm wide, 1,576 mm height, and 1,885 mm of wheelbase. In terms of features, the K2 and K4 models will include AC whereas the K1 and K3 variants won't. It will also get 4G connectivity for better connectivity for booking and payments.

Verdict: Most likely, the Mahindra Atom will be deployed as a commercial vehicle as a substitute for auto rickshaws. It will compete with the Bajaj Qute and is predicted to cost approximately Rs. 3 lakh.
