Just recently we shared with you Hyundai's upcoming micro SUV codenamed AX1 and now we have spotted the Tata HBX which has been spotted doing high altitude testing. This baby SUV from Tata was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and ever since it was shown to the Indian market, we all have been waiting for its launch.
Before we go any further and share all the details related to the upcoming Tata HBX, make sure you are a member of our exclusive 91Wheels Telegram group where we share about the latest information about the Indian Automotive Industry.
Tata HBX was spotted on the Leh Manali highway to test the high altitude performance. Like its earlier shots where we have seen it on different terrains of India, it is the same camouflaged model with tall boy design and looks similar to that showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.

This spied model looks like the production-spec model and unlike the one we saw at the Expo which got several off-road bits, this one carries a humble design. It ditches the roof rack with spare tyre, off-road tyres, bash plates on the side and several other things.
The design is similar to that of Harrier with split headlight set-up. This one borrows the grille from the Nexon and will come with diamond cut dual-tone alloy wheels. While the higher variants will offer skid plate at both rear and front, body cladding is something which will come as standard across all variants.
On the inside, it will carry an all-black theme with grey inserts. A semi-digital instrument cluster, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering mounted control, flat-bottom steering wheels are some of the offerings that will come with HBX.

We're aware of the mechanicals as it will source the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine from the Tiago. This unit produces 84 bhp at 6000 RPM with 113 Nm of peak torque at 3300 RPM. This engine gets a 5-speed manual gearbox and we wonder if the AMT will come in the HBX.
