Upcoming TVS Cruiser Bike - Rival To Meteor 350?
As seen in the leaked patent photo, this upcoming bike will be a proper cruiser. However, there is a high possibility that it'll be based on the Ronin itself. Ronin already has a good chassis and construction to base a cruiser. In fact, the confused ergonomics of Ronin often leave the riders wishing for a more cruiser stance. Hence, TVS might fiddle with the design to make it a proper cruiser. The footpegs, for example, will be front set and the handlebar will be lowered. Additionally, the exhaust can extend further towards the rear to accommodate proper weight balance. Other modifications will include a bigger fuel tank and cushioned seats.
Mid you, the Ronin comes equipped with a 225.9cc single-cylinder boxer engine. This engine makes a decent punch of 20.5 PS & 19.93 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, it is offered with a 5-speed transmission. With that said, TVS might also re-tune this engine and gear ratio to accommodate the cruiser's weight and dynamics. The Ronin is a decent performer but it can not be directly compared with the cruiser bikes of similar attire. Hence, the Zeppelin (or whatever TVS will call it), will be the perfect bike for TVS to enter in the cruiser segment. Whenever it'll launch, its main competition will be the Royal Enfield Meteor 350.
Verdict - The upcoming cruiser bike from TVS will be the first product from the company in this segment. However, its details and launch timeline are still unknown. TVS might debut the bike in India sometime next year. If so, it will be priced higher than the Ronin. We expect that this cruiser will be priced somewhere around Rs 2.25 lakh (ex-showroom).
