Volkswagen has finally launched the mid-size SUV, T-Roc, in India at a starting price of Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The vehicle was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and focuses on young buyers. The SUV competes with the likes of MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson and upcoming Skoda Karoq.
The India spec version of Volkswagen T-Roc comes with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine which produces 145 bhp with a peak torque of 240 Nm. This unit gets paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox and it is the same unit which the upcoming Skoda Karoq uses.
This SUV will be brought in via Completely Built Unit route and it is the second SUV of Volkswagen in 2020 after the German carmaker launched the Tiguan All Space just recently. The big 7-seater SUV only comes with a petrol engine and gets a sticker price of well above Rs 33 lakh.

Volkswagen T-roc is built on the MQB platform which further enhances the driving experience and also improves the dynamics of the vehicle and helps in being efficient as it comes with cylinder deactivation technology. The car has already received well over 300 bookings and the response is quite right from the start.
The SUV comes only in a single trim and is offered in five different colour options. Sharing more details on the design then it gets LED projector headlights at the front with LED Daytime Running Lights. It also gets dual-tone alloy wheels and LED treatment continues to the taillights too.
Coming to the inside you notice a large panoramic sunroof and leather upholstery which makes the car look premium. You also get features like automatic climate control, Virtual Cockpit, a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets push button start, reverse parking camera and among others.

Safety features too on the T-Roc are top notch as it gets Six Airbags, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Antilock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, Electronic Stability Control and others.
