Volkswagen Tiguan was an amazing SUV for the Indian markets with its torquey 2.0L TDI diesel and the AWD set up to make up for the go-to anywhere attitude. However, as the mighty Fortuner and Endy, the SUV couldn't impress the market as such. This year they introduced Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, a perfect family SUV and we have its first look review!
Our first look review generally categories the vehicle into sub-sections like its features, design, dimensions, engine options, our opinions and this Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace is no different. Let's continue with this overview of Allspace

Design
This Allspace 7-seater borrows its design cues from the 5-seater Tiguan. At the front, the same LED headlight is observed with integrated DRLs (Daytime Running Lights). Do notice the similar grille design with Volkswagen badging at the middle and the lower portion of the grille gets a subtle chrome line. Unlike the 5-seater Tiguan which had body cladding all over this one continues with the cladding only on the wheel arches.
The side profile is visibly longer by 210 mm so as to accomodate the extra bench for 2 additional passengers. Chrome highlights are visible on the side doors, window lines and on the lower part of the rear bumper. The company has also provided with diffusers to give it a sporty look.
Dimensions
Dimensions | VW Tiguan Allspace | Skoda Kodiaq | Honda CR-V |
Length | 4701 | 4697 | 4592 |
Width | 1839 | 1882 | 1855 |
Height | 1674 | 1676 | 1679 |
Wheelbase | 2787 | 2791 | 2660 |
Here we have compared the all these soft off-roaders and they all come with a petrol engine only. The new 2020 Skoda Kodiaq is yet to be launched in the Indian markets but the dimension will remain the same. Although the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace is longer than its competitors, in terms of width, height and wheelbase it loses out some points. The cabin is not as spacious as the Kodiaq or the Honda CR-V. The last row is best reserved for children below 10.

Features
Since this 7-seater is a CBU unit so it comes with features loaded up to the brim. The full ELD headlights with DRLs are one example while on the inside it receives a massive panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control settings, fully digital instrument cluster, Vienna leather seats and much more. It also gets a larger touchscreen infotainment unit which receives modern connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets wireless charging, eight speakers, hands-free boot release and more.
Safety kit on this one includes ABS with EBD, 7 airbags, electronic parking brake, reverse camera, rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system, high-speed alert system and more.
Engine Option
Being a full import it comes with only a 2.0L turbo petrol engine which makes 190 bhp with a peak torque of 320 Nm. The engine gets mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox which also receives a 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. The power is much more than its rival Honda CR-V. For those looking for a petrol SUV, the Tiguan Allspace adds an advantage because of the 2 additional seats and more power under the hood. Sure, it attracts a hefty price tag too.
Prices and Our Opinions
Being a CBU Volkswagen Tiguan is priced at Rs 33.14 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The pricing comes in the range of much popular Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. In my opinion, I think a CBU car is great and with the latest NGT norms, for those looking for a powerful petrol SUV, this makes a better choice. The SUV comes in seven colour options - Habanero Orange Metallic, Pure White, Ruby Red Metallic, Deep Black Pearl, Petroleum Blue, Platinum Grey Metallic and Pyrite Silver.
