Volkswagen Virtus, Taigun Now Offers 6 Airbags As Standard
Volkswagen has upgraded the safety features of the Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun models by making six airbags a standard feature across all variants. Previously, these models only had dual front airbags in their lower-spec versions. This update follows a similar move by Skoda, Volkswagen's sibling brand, which recently updated the safety features of the Kushaq and Slavia models with the same six-airbag configuration.
Interestingly, both models already have full 5-Star Global NCAP crash test ratings, making them one of the safest vehicles in the country. Moreover, they scored a full house with their dual airbag variants which is a testament to the solid build quality. However, what is even more commendable is that there has been no price hike in the updated variants as of now. This is a welcome move by the brand, refraining from making any price adjustments for the added essential safety boost.

Both the Taigun and Volkswagen Virtus offer 2 turbo petrol mills. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine delivers 115 PS of power and 178 Nm of torque, available with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the more potent 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine generates 150 PS and 250 Nm, with transmission options including a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Volkswagen has also revealed that it has achieved a significant milestone by selling over 100,000 units of the Taigun and Virtus combined. Notably, the SUV segment, represented by the Taigun, contributed to 61 percent of this achievement. Additionally, Volkswagen reports that approximately 40 percent of the total sales of both models comprise the higher-spec GT variants, indicating strong demand for the top-tier configurations across their lineup.
