These are two of the newest motorcycles in the entry level touring segment. While the TRK 251 was launched last month, Yezdi rolled out the Adventure today. But which of the two bikes should you be looking at if you want to step into the world of long distance touring? The price equation!
Before we move further, I do understand that while the TRK is more road focussed, the Yezdi Adventure, owning to its long travel suspension and dual purpose tyres, is well suited for trails as well. However, both the bikes have one thing in common - chewing up miles. And hence the comparison here. For starts, the Benelli TRK 251 carries a sticker price of Rs 2.51 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The Yezdi Adventure, on the other hand, is cheaper by about Rs 41,000 with prices starting from Rs 2.09 lakh. This is a big difference and could be a deciding factor for a lot of buyers out there in the market.
Power Corrupts!
Moving on to the heart of the matter here - both the bikes are quite different when it comes to the engine on offer. The only two similarites are the fact that both the bikes get a single cylinder engine and a 6-speed gearbox. The TRK 251 draws power from a 249cc motor that is good for 25.8 PS of power and 21.1 Nm of torque. The Yezdi Adventure on the hand gets a larger 334cc engine which generates 18% higher power and 40% more torque than the Benelli offering. This inspite of being a cheaper motorcycle. Further, peak outputs of both power and torque come in at a lower rpm on the Yezdi offering. While we haven't ridden the bikes yet, safe to assume the Adventure will offer better performance on a real world basis.
Chassis on offer
The Yezdi Adventure has a bigger footprint on paper as compared to the TRK 251. It offers a typical adventure design, longer wheelbase and a higher ground clearance. That said, the Benelli TRK251 looks far better and the huge front fairing should turn more heads on the road in our opinion. It even features a larger fuel tank that should given the rider a longer real world riding range.
Summary
Coming to the summary of our Yezdi Adventure VS Benelli TRK 251 article - the Yezdi Adventure does seem to far better value for money over Benelli's quarter litre offering. Both the manufacturers are still increasing their network in India and might not be available in smaller towns. While the Adventure is apt for your Ladakh fantasies, the TRK should do well for high speed cross country runs. It looks sportier too but on the other hand, Yezdi is already ready with a host of accessories buyers can pick from the showroom floor itself.
